Secondary Professional Tutor


José is an experienced teacher-trainer and mentor. He has previously worked as a Teaching and Learning Lead Practitioner and a Subject Leader in a new school, having had to set up his own department. José has also taught Science, Citizenship and Modern Foreign Languages to secondary school students in various schools in Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.


Whilst living abroad, José taught English as a foreign language to refugees and asylum seekers. He is also a published education columnist in two national mainstream newspapers in Portugal and Finland. He holds a Master’s degree in Science Education, having specialised in the use of technology in the classroom.


Training experience

José has led various training programmes aimed at supporting teachers at different stages of the careers: from trainee teachers and mentors to outstanding practitioners. He has trained professionals in a range of secondary schools, school alliances and at the University of Cambridge, as a guest speaker. He has also spoken about his research and specialisms at various national fairs and events.


His interests are focused on the use of mobile devices to enhance students’ progress and attainment levels as well as the specific needs shown by EAL students in the English classrooms.
