ITE Professional Tutor

Claire hicklingWhat does your role entail?

As a professional tutor I support the training of the trainee teachers. I work with the managing mentors and mentors in schools who support our trainees on a daily basis. I also coach the trainees in schools and help to develop their teaching skills in the classroom. In addition to working in schools, I deliver core training on pedagogical practice and support our trainees to achieve their PGCE.

What are your credentials/experience to your current position?

Before this role I have spent the past 12 years working in a variety of roles in inner city schools covering teaching and learning, curriculum and pastoral work. My posts have included Assistant Principal and Vice Principal for Behaviour of an Outstanding academy, Director of Science and Head of Year. I have coached and mentored a number of teachers and love supporting teachers to blossom in the classroom and deliver fantastic lessons.

What is the highlight of your role?

My passion is to provide the best education to students irrespective of their background and I love that I can support other teachers to do this more than I am able to do on my own.
