Antonia Hutchinson

ITE Professional Tutor

Antonia hutchinsonWhat does your role entail?

I am a Professional Tutor at Harris Initial Teacher Education. This entails working with various trainees across the Harris Federation Academies. As a Professional Tutor at Harris ITE, I support the delivery, development and quality assurance of the Secondary Phase of the School Direct Programme and other strands of ITE within the Harris Federation. I regularly observe trainees, provide them with feedback to support their development. Additionally, I provide support to mentors and help them to identify the best ways to develop trainees.

What are your credentials/experience to your current position?

I completed my degree (BA Hons History) at Roehampton in 2013, since then I have undertaken a variety of roles in education, working in various secondary schools. As an experienced teacher of History and ITE Lead in a South London comprehensive school, I have supported the development of numerous trainees on different routes into teaching such as SCITTs, PGCEs, Assessment Only and Teach First.

What is the highlight of your role?

The highlight of my role is watching the development of my trainees throughout the early stages of their career. Additionally, observing the positive impact that trainee teachers have on their students once they have developed, it makes me proud to be apart of that legacy.
