What does your role entail?

In my current role as an ITE Professional Tutor, I am responsible for supporting and developing trainees in my allocated academies across the Federation, enabling them to become excellent teachers and, as a result, improving outcomes for thousands of children and young people. I also plan and deliver core training sessions, focusing predominantly on inclusive pedagogy. In addition, I am the programme lead for Future Teaching Scholars and the Assessment Only route to QTS.

What are your credentials/experience to your current position?

I have been working with Harris ITE since January 2020. Before joining the Harris ITE Team, I worked as an MFL Consultant and Lead Practitioner for the Harris Federation, working with a diverse range of MFL departments, with the overall aim of driving improvement and ensuring great outcomes for students. Prior to this, I was Head of Modern Foreign Languages at an academy in South London. Following my initial teacher training, I completed a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, with a specific focus on educational equity and inclusion. In addition to my experience in the UK, I have spent extensive periods contributing to and leading projects for Education-focused NGOs in Latin America and Cambodia.

What is the highlight of your role?

The highlight of my role is working alongside our trainees and witnessing their passion and commitment to make a difference in the lives of children and young people – it reminds me daily why I wanted to work in Education!
