Harris Initial Teacher Education has been identified as "Outstanding" in all areas

We are pleased to announce that Harris Initial Teacher Education has been identified as "Outstanding" in all areas by Ofsted in our first inspection since being established as a SCITT in 2014.

Rachael Hare, Head of Harris Initial Teacher Education at Harris says,

‘We’re incredibly proud of the exceptional quality of our trainees and alumni from the course. Principals often feed back that graduates from the programme are uniquely well-prepared and far in advance of their peers, starting their NQT year highly confident in their teaching ability and experts in terms of subject knowledge, inclusion and behaviour management.”

“It is a tremendous credit to our dynamic, talented trainers and mentors that our initial inspection after two and a half years as a SCITT has resulted in a judgement of Outstanding in every category. Our exceptional training team, subject mentors and academy staff work closely in partnership to ensure the strongest of outcomes for our beginner teachers, and therefore the children in our schools.”

Our commitment to serve students in all areas of London through the development and training of their teachers was noted by Ofsted. In their list of key strengths of the primary and secondary partnership, they listed examples such as:

‘...the determination, shared by all members of the partnership, to provide top-quality initial teacher education in order to produce outstanding teachers for the benefit of pupils in partnership schools, and beyond.’
- Ofsted, January 2017.

and

'...the careful attention leaders pay to improving the training programme; leaders' dynamic response to feedback and suggestions shows their excellent capacity to improve and leads to trainees' very high satisfaction rates.
- Ofsted, January 2017.

We truly believe that it is through the bespoke nature of our course, consistent support delivered in tandem via academies and our central training team, and outstanding leadership that we will continue to produce highly effective teachers both for our Federation of academies and the wider teaching community.
